Plectania campylospora

Plectania campylospora.This is one of the larger cup fungi found on wood. A large (to 5 cm diam.) deeply cupshaped disc fungus growing on rooting wood in wet sites such as fern gullies. It has a short stem and dark brown to blackish interior to the cup. Compare Helvella villosa.

Cup
May be up to 50 mm wide, with a smooth, very dark brown inner surface and rough-textured black exterior. The texture is rubbery.
Stipe/stalk
This is present underneath and is up to 10 mm long.
Habitat
On rotting wood in wet sites such as fern gullies.
