Common Name: Austral Dryad's Saddle
Piptoporus maculatissimus forms medium to large brackets on logs and tree trunks in subalpine situations. The mature pores are yellow but paler when young. The upper surfaces of the brackets darken with age. The species causes a brown heart-rot in living trees.
