Microporus xanthopus is a tropical polypore. The distinctive, widely flared fruiting bodies are attractively zoned on the inner surface, while the outer, fertile surface is covered with minute pores. The specific name xanthopus, meaning 'yellow foot', refers to the yellow coloured disc attaching the fruiting bodies to twigs and branches. This fungus is common throughout northern Australia.
